Sick patients and sudden-onset illness In-hours
Existing CFP-registered patients with sudden-onset illness, or with minor emergencies are accommodated on the same day when possible. These will be fitted in between other booked appointments and will usually need to be of short duration.
Telephoning The Doctor
While our practice aims to be accessible to patients throughout our consulting hours, please be mindful that Dr Eiselen tries to minimize interruptions of consultations and therefore may not usually be able to attend to your call.
Please leave a brief and succinct message with reception staff or receptionist stating the reason for your call (no sensitive or private detail) with a return telephone number and we will call you back as soon as possible.
Billing
This a non-bulk billing practice.
Neither senior citizens, nor children or health card holders are bulk-billed.
This is for the very good reason that at the level of bulk-billing fees a GP practice will need to run 10 minute consultations in order to see enough patients to remain financially viable.
10 Minutes is too short for proper attention.
Children are not bulk billed as they take as much time to examine and treat, if not more than adults.
Bulk billing may lead to an erosion of the level of service and at the end only the patients lose out. In order to maintain our high level of service bulk billing will not be practiced.
The current fees are $74 for a standard consultation and $110.65 for a longer or complex consultation. Extra long or complex consultations cost $151.50 This will leave an out-of-pocket gap of +/-$34.90 , and for an extra-long,or complex consultation $40.
Complex consultations are those with multiple different problems to be addressed or of intricate nature requiring more time to address.
The Medicare portion can be claimed back by patients themselves or the practice can claim on your behalf at the time of your visit. This is paid directly into your banking account within a brief delay.
Consultations fees will be reviewed on a yearly basis usually at the end of July.
Fee Medicare rebate Out of Pocket Gap
Standard Consultation Code 23 $74.00 $ 39.10 $ 34.90
Longer Consultation Code 36 $110.65 $ 75.75 $34.90
Extra-Long Consultation Code 44 $151.50 $ 111.50 $40.00
Electronic Media
Clarkson Family Practice does not use email, Facebook or other social media platforms for normal communication with patients. Email is not legal tender and is very time-consuming. Practices using email normally have a person dedicated to spending a large part of the day just dealing with emails. This would be completely counter productive to my practice.
Social media create unacceptable ethical and privacy problems.
Emails will only be used if requested or sanctioned by Dr Eiselen after ensuring the correct email address of the recipient.
An automated reply is sent to each sender, explaining this practice policy on receipt of any email.
